Do you know a good Quality Improvement Project?

The following is a message from the Paediatric Care Online Project Team

Dear All,

I am writing to you on behalf of the Paediatric care online (PCO) QI Project Board to request your advice and assistance on the development of a new online resource focussed on medicines safety.

The project is part of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health’s (RCPCH) Paediatric Care Online UK Programme – an innovative programme designed to support and enhance the delivery of paediatric care by all health professionals across the UK.

The MEDS IQ project has two broad objectives:

  1.  To minimise the incidence of prescribing error
  2. To reduce harm from paediatric medication error.

To help achieve these objectives we are looking to create a comprehensive web-based resource of:

a) QI tools helping to improve medication safety (e.g. drug look up, drug calculators)

b) QI projects where individuals/ groups have implemented a strategy to improve medication safety

We are already looking at several such tools and projects in 4 specific focus areas (see below) and we are trying to identify more resources which could be included in our online portfolio.

PCO Table

In the first instance, we are asking if you are aware of any tools or projects which you could signpost to us?

The online platform will include functions enabling submission and review of new projects which, will be added to over time and to become a growing resource.

Please get in touch with Kasia Muszynska, the project manager at RCPCH  if you are aware of:

1)      Any existing QI tools (as outlined above) which we could either make directly accessible or signpost via the website.

2)      Any current QI projects (within the above areas) which have been successfully piloted.

Best wishes,

PCO QI Project Team
